The CPA Exam is developed, maintained and scored by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and administered at Prometric test centers in partnership with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA).
The Uniform CPA Exam was 19.5 hours in duration, until the mid-1990s, and was administered over two and one-half days. It contained four subject areas (sections) which the candidate had to sit for, for 5 times: Auditing (3.5 hours); Business Law (3.5 hours); Accounting Theory (3.5 hours); and Accounting Practice (Part I & Part II; 4.5 hours each). Accounting Practice Parts I and II were required to be given in separate sittings but the two scores were graded together. The exam was conducted on the first consecutive Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in May and November of each year, that is twice a year. Test takers were allowed to use only paper and pencil (not even calculators were allowed, imagine that!)
Since April 5, 2004, the exam has been conducted online in secure testing centers. Currently, the exam is conducted in the first two months of each quarter. This is called a testing window. You can take any section and more than one section in each month, but each section can be taken only once.
You can choose the Exam dates for CPA BEC section that suit best to your convenience. The CPA BEC Exam dates like the other sections can be chosen and the exam can be scheduled with Prometric after you have received the NTS from NASBA or SBA.
Before deciding the CPA BEC Exam dates, we strongly suggest you to consider your level of preparation for the BEC section as CPA BEC Exam dates should be able to accommodate your readiness to take the exam. It is advisable to choose exam dates for CPA BEC section when there are least chances of disturbance, (like when there is no active project going on) and on the chosen CPA BEC Exam dates , plan your travel so that you are at the testing center. Just in case you forget something or need something else, you have room to get it.
