Ethics of Independence and Objectivity

What if the Company Handbook does not provide any information about the amount up to which the gifts can be accepted. Then if the price of gift is too low like Rs10. Then do we inform the supervisor before accepting the gift and wait for his permission or accept the gift and then inform the supervisor.

Even if the price is as low as Rs 10, the employee has to get a written consent from the employer before accepting it.
