Hi Dasmrin

Fundamentally there are 2 ways to connect with hive. One is through hive shell which is an interpreter where we can execute our queries. Second option is through hiveserver2 which is basically a thrift interface.
If we have direct access to the hive client, we can use the shell. There are basically two types of shell interfaces to hive. One is the hive shell which is the basic shell interface. This is deprecated in the latest versions of hive. The other shell is the beeline shell which internally uses the thrift interface.
Hiveserver2 helps us to access hive remotely from various applications. We can connect to hive from various applications and various programming languages through hiveserver2.
