YARN as name says is Yet another resource negotiator.Yarn contains -
1. Resource manager
2. Application master
3. Node manager

The architecture can be clearly seen in image

Each resource manager handles a cluster.Application master available for every job,and per machine there is a node manager, which informs the resource manager about the resource used and health of the node.In YARN, nodes have container which is actually a name given to the resources allocated to the node.
