Regression Analysis in Excel with more Independent variables

Postby kbhargavrr » Thu Feb 18, 2016 6:03 am

Hi, can any one tell me whether Regression Analysis will not Run in Excel with morethan 16 Independent Variables?
When am trying to do Regression Analysis with 30 Independent variables in Excel, it shows an error of

" Regression - Input X Range cannot contain more than 16 variables (columns)."

Or am doing anything wrong here?

Hi,

You will face such limitations while modeling using excel. There are some add-ons available to tackle this problem(Excel Add-In: OLS Regression and OLSReg Function, OLSregression.xla). However, this may not be the long term solution. Please try using R language to build models. It has the ability to handle large number of variables and has robust optimization algorithms available inbuilt in different packages.
