Doubt regarding Quant question

Postby bhavyamital » Wed Dec 19, 2012 12:09 am

Given the following table about employees of a company based on whether they are smokers or nonsmokers and whether or not they suffer from any allergies, what is the probability of both suffering from allergies and not suffering from allergies?

Suffer from Allergies Don't Suffer from Allergies Total
Smoker 35 25 60
Nonsmoker 55 185 240
Total 90 210 300

Can somebody plz explain the result????

Bhavya,

Something seems to be missing in your question. How can one both suffer from allergies and not suffer from allergies at the same time? This also has nothing to do with smoking. Let me know the correct question and I would be glad to answer.

Zero. Since number of possible favorable events, i.e., both suffering from allergies and not suffering from allergies is zero.
