Enrolled agents are federally licensed tax practitioners who have unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS (Internal Revenue Service), the US Federal agency that administers the collection of taxes and enforcement of tax laws.
It is the highest credential awarded by the IRS, US. This EA credential not only verifies credibility but also opens multiple doors to new careers and attracts better work opportunities in India and abroad.
EAs are valuable to firms as they can practice in all 50 states in the US, and help prepare taxes for all international clients filing in the US as a massive number of international companies have a US presence.
The Enrolled Agent course is for those aspirants who plan to become expert tax advisors in the US. The Enrolled Agent course has a three-part exam known as the Special Enrollment Examination (SEE), administered by Prometric on behalf of the IRS.
Each of the three EA exams has 100 multiple-choice questions and a 3.5-hour testing time which covers a wide range of taxation topics. After the tax preparers pass all three Enrolled Agent exams and complete other requirements, it is then the IRS distinguishes them with the EA designation and allows them to practice before the IRS.
