You are not done with learning as soon as you become an ACCA member. ACCA members are required to complete Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits. Every member must complete certain set CPD requirements. The continuing learning process ensures that the ACCA members are up to date with the changes in the field and the CPD program of ACCA is flexible to accommodate the job related learning process for the ACCA member.
ACCA CPD requirements are on an annual basis, starting from the first January 1st since the membership approval. That is, if you have obtained your membership on January 3rd 2014 or December 21st 2014, your ACCA CPD requirements will be considered from January 1st 2015. With in the year starting from 1st Jan 2015, you must meet your ACCA CPD requirements.
Only active members need to pursue the CPD requirements. Retired members are exempted from these. If for some reason you are unable to meet the required CPD credits, you need to request ACCA to waiver your CPD credits for the given time period.
Details of ACCA CPD Requirements:
Credis required: each credit equals 1 hour of study. For something to be counted as a credit, it should be a part of technical learning.
A total of 40 credits are required annually.
At the least 21 credits should be verifiable.
A maximum of 19 credits can be unverifiable.
What counts for CPD credits: Any activity that helps you advance your knowledge of a subject or technical skill related to your work profile or a learning that helps advance learning made through ACCA, qualifies for a CPD.
Where to get verifiable CPD credits: a learning activity is eligible to be counted under verifiable CPD credit when you can produce evidence that the particular learning activity has taken place. These may include but are not limited to, webinars, online courses, conference attendance, publications and technical articles etc. ,
