All about the Google Adwords Exam

Are you Adwords certified? This is the most common question asked when you go for an interview for the position of PPC marketer and if your answer is positive then congratulations you have almost got the job. Even if you are working as a freelancer, the Adwords certification will act like a magnet to get you the clients.

Now that you know the impact of Adwords certification, let us tell you what it is and how can one get Google Adwords certified.

What is Google Adwords Certification?

The Google AdWords certification is a professional accreditation that Google offers to individuals who demonstrate expertise in basic and advanced aspects of Adwords. This certification is awarded to the person who clears the Google Adwords examination that are designed to test your knowledge about the best practices in online advertising, Adwords campaign setup, management, measurement and optimization.

Google Adwords Examination

To become an Adwords certified professional you will need to clear two examinations; one of which is Adwords Fundamental Exam and the other can be any one from the below:

  • Search Advertising
  • Display Advertising
  • Video Advertising
  • Shopping Advertising

To pass any of the above examinations, you need to score minimum of 80% of marks and you are allotted 120 minutes of time for each exam (90 mins for Video and Shopping Advertising).

Note – You cannot stop/pause the timer once you start the exam, so make sure that there are no disturbances.

If you fail to score 80%, you can reappear for the exam again after 7 days.

Preparing for the Adwords Certification Exam

Before taking up the Adwords examination, make sure you have little experience in managing different types of Adwords campaign or atleast some knowledge about the basic concepts and ongoing trends of online advertising.

Giving Google Adwords Certification Examination

1. Join the Google Partners Account (join Google partners account). If you have already joined, then Sign in.

2. Click on Certifications to see your exam status. You might see a message telling you how many exams you need to pass to get certified.

3. Click on See exams.

4. Hover over the section of the exam that you'd like to give. Click on Exam Details.

5. Click Take exam and your time starts now.

Validity of Certification

The Google Adwords certification is valid for 1 year that is, after every one year you are required to appear for both the exams in order to remain Adwords certified.
