Historical Balance Sheet of Facebook

February 12, 2012
, , ,

I hope that you all enjoyed modeling the historical B/S of Facebook. Today's training is simple and quick, it just contains the filled B/S of Facebook, so that you can check your efforts for the past days.

How do I create the model then??

Most of the stuff just needs to be hardcoded in the B/S template. Some numbers like total current assets can be derived by summing all the current assets.

Balance Sheet of Facebook

Typically we would try to maintain a discipline hard coded numbers in blue, calculations in black.

So did you get it right?

I am sure if you tried hard, you would have got it right. If not, lets discuss the issues that you faced and start learning together!

Next Steps

Now that we have the historical P&L and B/S in place, we move forward to know the BASE rule. Base rule is used to get the ending balance of say retained earnings by adding net income to and subtracting payout from the beginning balance. Tomorrow we would release the empty template for the same. In the meanwhile, why don't you try to use the base rule on your own? The data is with you in the S1 filing!
