The CFA level 1 Exam is offered twice in a year, once on first Saturday of June and other in the month of December. The exam is available only in English language.
The CFA institute provides the exam result and a performance summary of each topic area to all the candidates who take the CFA level 1 exam. The Exam results for Level I are published within 60 days from the exam date, i.e., once in the month of January and another in the late month of July. The exam results for level II are available within 60 days from the exam date, i.e., late in the month of July. The CFA Level III results are available within 90 days from the exam date, i.e., early-mid in the month of August.
The candidates who are not able to pass the CFA level 1 exam are provided with an additional piece of information which illustrates their performance relative to all other candidates who do not meet the MPS (minimum passing score).
The candidates who pass the exam, can register for the next exam. The candidates who do not pass the exam are advised to use their exam result report and accordingly guide their studies. The candidates who do not pass the exam can re-take the exam at a later stage. There is no minimum time limit between any levels of the CFA exam. Before making the registration for the next exam, you can take as much time as you want for the preparation.
In the CFA Level I exam held In June 2014, the pass rate was 42%, and in the exam held in December 2013, the candidates who were able to pass the exam was 43%.

The CFA candidates can get their results online for approximately one year. When the results are no more available online, then the candidates can request for the results through an official letter. But in this case, they will not be provided with the performance summary for each topic area.
The CFA institute releases the exam result only to the individual candidates. The exam results are not released to any third party organizations. But for the membership purposes, the list of passing candidates is provided to the societies.
