AICPA or American Institute of Certified Public Accountants is a popular and the largest national professional association of CPAs in the USA. It has more than 394000 members in 128 nations in public practice, business and industry, student affiliates, education, government, and international associates. It was established in 1887. It represents the profession of CPA nationally concerning standard-setting and rule-making. The association evolves norms for audits of private agencies and other services by CPAs, it offers educational direction materials to its associates, administers and scores the Uniform CPA Exam and keeps an eye on and implements compliance with the ethical and technical standards of the profession. The society was combined into the institute in 1936, to limit its future members to CPAs.
The mission of the association is to offer members with the genuine information, resources and leadership that permit them to offer valuable and reliable services professionally to benefit the employers, clients and the general public. AICPA works with state CPA associations and gives preferences to those regions where public dependence on CPA abilities is most important.
The AICPA works on a wide range of activities like advocacy, communications, certification and licensing, standards and performance, education and recruitment and many others. All these activities have a different set of rules and regulations to follow. These activities are designed by the association to reach their objectives by combining all the efforts.
Annual fees to become a new member of the AICPA, is $65. The renewal fees might vary according to the type of membership, a CPA owns. All the payments need to be cleared before or on July 31 for every year. Check the dues section on the official website of the association. The activities of the membership are such as community, advocacy and professional development. The organization also provides some discounts on membership plans.
