FRM CPE Program

Continuing professional education is important to keep pace with the ever-evolving financial industry. The CPE program aims at giving essential information and knowledge to the certified FRMs so that they are able to perform efficiently and effectively for the organization. This ensures that a certified FRM still has the relevant knowledge after long clearing the FRM exam

GARP’s CPE Program is designed to enhance the professional growth and skills of certified FRMs. The CPE program is voluntary, but GARP encourages the certified FRMs to undergo the program to maintain the global standards of their profession.

The CPE Program is based on high ethical standards. GARP has a set of standards mentioned in GARP Code of Conduct. The CPE Program candidates should adhere to these standards and complete their program.

All the certified FRMs who enroll for the CPE program must complete 40 hours of continuing education within 24 months from the date of enrolling.

Eligibility and Enrollment

The Certified FRMs who are active members of GARP can enroll for the Continuing Professional Education program. The candidate must obtain FRM certification before enrolling for the CPE Program. GARP encourages the certified FRMs to enroll for the CPE Program in the year they are certified.

You have to enroll only once for the CPE Program in your professional career. There is no enrollment fee. Instead, individually you must be an active member of GARP.

Qualified Learning Activities:

The learning activities which qualify should be of educational nature focusing on risk management topics. The learning activities in the CPE Program should be in the areas of:

  • Financial Markets/Products

  • Credit Risk

  • Enterprise Risk Management

  • Integrated Risk

  • Liquidity Risk

  • Operational Risk

  • Legal and Ethics

  • Market Risk

  • Quantitative Analysis

  • Other relevant areas of study


In order to get your credits approved, you should submit the credits for verification and approval. Using GARP’s CPE credit tracker you can easily monitor your CPE credits.
