  • To act as an analyst and execute projects for investment banks, lenders, asset managers, hedge funds, large corporations and consultancy firms

  • Perform basic financial analysis and present them in a structured manner
  • Perform basic financial modeling and valuation assignments
  • Perform deal support activities
  • Communicate confidently with the client or project lead and take them through the sections of the deliverable
  • Help the project lead decide on timelines with regards to his/ her section of the work
  • Conduct sanity checks based on knowledge and not necessarily only data
  • Ensure that risks / issues are identified by him/her and escalated to the project leads

Job Title: Credit Analyst

Overall Job Purpose

  • A member of Middle Office responsible for supporting nominated RDs who are developing and maintaining relationships with a portfolio of Larger Business customers.
  • A credit process specialist dealing with a range of credit activities for a number of portfolios
  • Responsible for maintaining credit data bases across the corporate bank and liaison with various sanctioning points across the group.
  • Provide high-quality credit processing support to RDs, acting as an interface with other areas including BLSC.
  • Responsible for instruction to BLSC for completion of necessary security documentation.
  • Working in partnership with the Coverage team, servicing team and other specialists to ensure that we provide a joined up service to our customers at all times.

Main Accountabilities

Credit Applications - 60%

  • Own the day-to-day credit data relationship for a nominated portfolio of customers;
  • Act as liaison for risk management information purposes with RSMs, customers, accountants, solicitors and other relevant people.
  • Co-ordinate the interface with LB Risk for the nominated portfolio of customers;
  • Use Zeus to analyse historic and projected financial information to identify key issues and terms prior to discussing with Relationship Director.
  • Create Zeus credit applications on behalf of RDs (applying judgmental input) and collate paper attachments
  • Responsible for collating and managing customer produced financial information and input on Zeus.
  • Pre-populate Zeus with annual reports & supplementary information for target accounts. Use expertise and judgement to make recommendations to the RD regarding credit issues for certain customers
  • As required, develop and maintain contacts with credit-related specialists in other branch sectors and other areas of the Group (e.g. for specific industry-related risk issues)

Business Management 35%

  • Use knowledge of risk procedures and complex security to make recommendations to
  • RD on protecting the Group from losses and managing high value facility risk
  • Take ownership of urgent credit related matters such as dealing with court orders and
  • Companies House notifications
  • Provide technical input and undertake research for Relationship Director in connection with proposed security and liaise with BLSC to arrange preparation and  execution of security documentation.
  • Provide technical input to RD re proposed business opportunities and available security
  • Co-ordinate the transfer of accounts to the Debt Recovery Unit (DRU) and assist the RD/Business Support team and others with the recovery procedures for non-DRU  accounts;
  • Discuss customer breaches of covenants and terms with RD and make recommendations/ initiate remedial actions
  • Review of Excess refers and other risk reports
  • Undertake and adhere to all compliance regulations applicable to your role

Team Working 5%

  • Liaise with the Head of Middle Office, providing feedback to aid performance development for other members of the Middle Office
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to environment of mutual support by sharing knowledge with other team members


  • Exposure to product and credit systems in any corporate bank
  • Knowledge of the value chain in corporate banking
  • Understanding of corporate banking products and risk associated with them
  • Aptitude to work in a dynamic business environment, periodically requiring tight
  • deadlines and aggressive turn-around time
  • Strong customer focus, commercial awareness and should be quality conscious
  • Flexibility to adapt to change


  • Exposure on writing credit application for SME / corporate
  • Knowledge of market and industry research tools, e.g. OneSource, Data monitor

Skills Required:

  • Financial statements analysis skills
  • Good communication and presentation skills (written and verbal);
  • Confidence to make recommendations, using influencing skills as appropriate (up to RD level)
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workloads;
  • Proficient in use of internal computer systems including Customer System, Zeus,
  • Customer Relationship Management System and any other platform applications
  • High level of analytical and numeracy skills
