ACCA is a global professional accounting body offering the Chartered Certified Accountant qualification (ACCA) and is based in the United Kingdom. ACCA constitutes of 219,000 members and 527,000 students over 179 countries. The ACCA course offered by ACCA has the lowest eligibility criteria wherein a candidate can pursue the course before graduation. The topics covered in ACCA course are Business Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting and Management, Corporate and Business Law, Performance Management and Analysis, Taxation, Financial Reporting, Audit and Assurance on an advanced level. It is a globally recognized certification in Accountancy. ACCA course provides preferential immigration in 59 countries thus providing better career opportunities globally. The minimum ACCA course duration is 2-3 years.

Who should pursue the ACCA course?

Students who want to excel in Accounting and obtain a globally recognized certification can opt for an ACCA course. Candidates will require the following academic qualifications to pursue the ACCA course:

  • Students who have completed 12th from Commerce stream and have passed in five subjects including English and Mathematics, with 65% marks in at least two subjects and over 50% marks in others
  • Students pursuing graduation in Commerce i.e. B. Com, BBA, BMS, etc.
  • BA/B.Sc. graduates from a recognized university (no marks restrictions), through a foundation in Accountancy
  • Students preparing for CPT, IPCC
  • Chartered Accountants should pursue ACCA for added credibility and a global edge

Eligibility

Students with any of the below academic qualifications:

  • Matriculation Certificate
  • Secondary School Leaving Certificate
  • All India Secondary School Certificate
  • India Certificate of Secondary Education – awarded on completion of Standard X
Students with any of the mentioned academic qualifications are not eligible to register for the ACCA course. Hence the qualifications are insufficient for registration.
Students with any of the below academic qualifications:

  • 10+2
  • India School Certificate
  • Intermediate Certificate
  • Higher School Certificate
  • Higher Secondary Certificate
  • Pre-University Course
  • Intermediate Public Examination
As per ACCA, any of these academic qualifications are sufficient for registering for the ACCA course provided the candidate has passed 5 subjects (passed at least 3 subjects in Year XII) including English and Mathematics / Accounts. The candidate has to secure 65% marks in at least 2 subjects and over 50% marks in the others. For the Higher Secondary Certificate, the marks are out of 200, so over 130 meets the 65% requirement and over 100 meets the 50% requirement.

Below is a breakdown of the grades in terms of percentage and actual grade:

  • 50%-60% = Satisfactory = C1
  • 60%-70% = Good = B2
  • 85%+, 80%-85%, 70%-80% = A1–A2, B1
Students with any of the below academic qualifications:

  • All India Senior School Certificate
  • Senior Secondary School Examination
As per ACCA, any of these academic qualifications are sufficient for registering for the ACCA course provided the candidate has passed 5 subjects including English and Mathematics / Accounts. The candidate has to secure 65% marks in at least 2 subjects and over 50% marks in the others.

ACCA Course Exam Details

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants has four exam cycles every year. Candidates can opt for the exams in a computer-based exam (CBE) format or paper-based exam format. Students can take a maximum of 4 exams during each exam cycle across a maximum of 8 distinct exams over the course of a calendar year. These can be any combination of computer-based and paper-based exams.

ACCA course structure and ACCA course fees in India

As per the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, the Exams must be taken in modular order for the ACCA Qualification, but candidates are allowed to appear for the exams within each module in any order. Below are the ACCA course structure and ACCA course fees in India.
